Scaling Multi-entity Finance Without Adding Headcount: Milk Moovement’s Story

About Milk Moovement

Milk Moovement is an enterprise software company that works with dairy co-ops, processors, and others in the supply chain to get the right milk to the right place at the right time. Danial’s finance team acts as the connective tissue across product, implementation, and go-to-market — using data to guide decisions.

The Challenge: Slow, Manual Multi-entity, Multi-Currency Consolidation

When Danial joined Milk Moovement as VP Finance and Operations, finance was operating like a scrappy startup. A one-person finance team, plus outsourced support, was maintaining complex, error-prone spreadsheets. Consolidating Canadian and U.S. entities across two currencies meant hours of manual spreadsheet wrangling. Consolidation was technically happening, but at a cost — 15–20 business days to land a trusted, group-level view. By the time the numbers were ready, the business had already moved on.

“We were spending so much time manually consolidating financials across the entities — it slowed us down and left us relying on data that was weeks out of date.”

Milk Moovement needed a platform built for multi-entity, multi-currency complexity. LiveFlow stood out for its deep finance functionality and easy setup.

The Solution: LiveFlow + FinanceIQ

Implementation was deliberately simple. Milk Moovement consolidated CAD and USD into one group view in LiveFlow, mapped accounts once, and moved the monthly ritual to a single step: click refresh.

The change was immediate:

  • Close time shrank from 15–20 business days to 5.

  • Numbers arrived when they were still relevant

  • The team didn’t add headcount to get there.

With the busywork gone, the conversation inside Milk Moovement changed. The month no longer started with “Do we trust the spreadsheet?” It started with “Why did this happen?” and “What do we do next?”

“The drag-and-drop functionality was simple and intuitive. At a click of a button, we’re comparing our actual results to our forecast, all mapped consistently.”

Budget vs. Actuals, On Demand

FinanceIQ added another layer of efficiency for Budgeting, allowing Departments to input data seamlessly while maintaining control over visibility. The team uploaded the budgets once, kept departmental inputs in FinanceIQ (with access controls for sensitive lines like Salaries), and — crucially — compared Actuals to Budgets with one click, perfectly mapped across entities.

“I don’t have to spend valuable time wrangling spreadsheets together, and we can still control who sees what.”

Results

Milk Moovement now runs a lean finance team that delivers faster, more reliable reporting across entities and currencies without chasing more headcount. Now, instead of gathering data, finance is focused on driving strategic decisions.

“The finance function is moving away from data wrangling and towards partnering with teams across the organization. LiveFlow is key in enabling that shift.”

Milk Moovement turned hours of manual consolidation and budgeting into a one-click process, giving them faster, more accurate insights — without expanding their finance team.
