Myles McGinley joined as Head of Finance, bringing investor experience and a mandate to professionalize finance after Rize’s Series A.
The Challenge
When Myles stepped in, Rize’s financial backbone was a patchwork of Excel and Google Sheets. Metrics like ARR, Gross Revenue Retention, and Burn Multiple were tracked manually. Data lived inside QuickBooks, but extracting it meant copy-pasting exports, fixing broken formulas, and spending hours reformatting.
The process slowed the company’s ability to operate with discipline. Teams couldn’t reliably see how they were tracking against plan, and investors didn’t have a clear view of performance. As Myles put it:
“We had a spiderweb of spreadsheets. Copy-pasting from QuickBooks was archaic — and I was spending hours just getting data in the right shape instead of analyzing it.”
Rize needed a way to automate reporting, ensure accuracy, and build an operating model that could scale with the business without expanding the finance headcount.

Looking Ahead
Rize plans to grow from ~150 university partners today to more than 500, scaling toward $100M+ in annual revenue. For Myles, the philosophy is clear: keep finance lean, automate aggressively, and focus on accelerating decisions.
